Philadelphia Homeless Encampment #3

By handlerstudio
Final set of my small groping of images about the homeless encampment on the Ben Franklin Parkway, just two blocks from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, across the street from the Barnes and the Rodin Museum. The porto-potties are the only ones serving this small community. And at least they are there...and presumable well tended...and emptied. We have a city government that is still struggling to deal with the protests...after one George Floyd demonstration was tear gassed, it took weeks for the city---Mayor and Police Commissioner--to apologize. Yesterday, all charges for demonstrators have been dropped. But this is complex. We have a large homeless population...and how to serve them fairly? The good news is that this city pretty much is in strong opposition to the president. And, the election cannot come soon enough...even as, at this point, he seems bent on self destruction.

A tale of two cities ( the haves & have nots !! ) very well portrayed Peter , your glorious leader will become more dangerous the more pressur he is under as he becomes less popular ! You will get through this but at what cost , only time will tell !

Keep calm and carry on: organise, build, support, and talk.

I wonder if a major part of the answer is for those who care about American being great make their own future, and let the man with the awful orange hair seal his own fate. In a real sense, there are now two countries, and the one composed of people of good will need not wait for the reactionaries and racists before they build the new place...

Excellent set Peter. Your election might get complicated. A Rapper and a Hilton threaten to stand.

There are people who supported him four years ago (and maybe still do) because he answered their genuine fears about the change in the nature of work....fears and insecurities that are valid....Artificial intelligence and automation...and evangelicals, for whom he preaches their values....even if he does not, personify them....and then....there are those for, whom their issue is that the country is becoming less white....to which the only answer is "yes....and?" But not for them. These are the trump thugs and potential right wing militias.

Aside from him winning, my greatest fear is him losing in a close election.....and claiming the results are a hoax...his favorite word.....and what might he do....or try to,do. The military would not support him.
