Photo Opportunity 1

A bit of harmless fun today. I wasnít going to upload this, but looking at it I reckon thereís one aspect that will appeal to a few individuals here. I could have called it Irish Pins, I suppose.
Just off Dublinís Grafton Street, a fine afternoon in spring. A grab shot, and on reflection maybe I focused on the wrong girl. I never found out - why the halo of plastic sunflowers?
V2 was taken shortly afterwards. Somehow they seem to go together.
Thanks for looking,

The lovely pins in No. 1 are a nice birthday treat Moira ~ thank you! and you have proved them wrong with No. 2. Great stuff!!

A nice bit of street theatre captured really well Moira. Has to be the local press, advertising would have used a tripod for sure.

Super street photography with a nice balance between the action taking place on the left and the model and (other) photographer on the right.

"A grab shot, and on reflection maybe I focused on the wrong girl"
though I doubt whether you would have bettered this composition .
As Alex above says the balance is perfect and everything is framed beautifully, even the diagonal pattern in the block paving is working in your favour. But what really works here is the bright yellow of the dress and those lovely legs that grab first attention and place your eyes in the correct place to begin the journey round the rest of the scene.
Nice one !

how good is this. Spot on perfect. Two obvious focal points, exactly where they should be. If i didn't know better i would say you paid them to stand there like that. First class Moira, first class

Thank you everyone and Happy Birthday Albert!
Sorry Pascal you can't have V2, but I can give you directions if ever you visit Dublin...
Interesting comment from Dougie - no tripod, certainly, but they did manage a make-up artist, stylist, two assistants... Absolutely no idea what this was for.
Looking again I think I did focus on the right girl, the one who didn't think she was the centre of attention at that precise moment.
Have a great weekend,

They certainly go together Moira. This is such an interesting shot & I think you've definitely focused on the right person. You've also captured the photographer and it makes you want to know what they're both looking at. The yellow dress is an eye-catcher.

Complements the Pins set from your other half. I find "magazine" people appearing on a Dublin street quite an odd sight, - the locals being such a crusty lot!

12 Jul 2008 10:22PM
Ah Grafton street. I remember it well. Well I remember it. Well I remember bits of it. Well, the Guiness and this aspect of it. Very nice pic and, erm, nice pins Smile

Your 'eye' for a photograph never fails to astonish me Moira! I would NEVER have taken this shot, yet you have captured an image that suggests a story and is full of atmosphere but only because of the perfect composition and viewpoint you seem to choose so effortlessly in all your street photography. (If I HAD taken this shot it would have been dull and pointless!) Interestingly, my seventeen year old son (Luke) has just completed a project for his A-level entitled street photography and has taken some stunning shots which remind me of yours. I'll have to get him to view some of your work. Don't worry he's too busy for EPZ so he won't be loading any of his images and giving you competition! Smile
