You do get a feeling he knows exactly what he is doing Colin. The big problem is the small field of view we have once the camera is up the eye.

You would also think he could have a least haved smiled...

I'm not sure he did Robert

Through the pillars to the right are a row of shops and I think he was heading for those ... then he saw me as he started walking

I was delighted!

I managed to get quite a few other shots of this costumed lady anyway

Yep, and there are SO many of them, Colin.
Most people don't give a damn about, knowingly, walking in front of a camera.
However, I have encountered some who politely stand and wait until I've taken a shot or three, and when they do;
I show my gratitude and smile as they pass.
But to those who quite deliberately walk straight in front of me while I try to take a shot, I do tend to let the odd unsavoury word pass my lips within ear shot.

In this image, your subject seems to be saying: "Don't say a word, Colin. Who knows what he has in his pocket?"

I said to her "It's Ok ... he's just pleased to see me"

Now off to celebrate my birthday with Linda and Laura ... a walk in a local park with a takeaway roll and coffee Grin

Yes, happy birthday!

If I was feeling clever, I'd try to lighten the eye inside the mask... As I'm tired and my IQ is dropping by the second, I'll pass...

You make an interesting point about the eyes John

They are often a problem as they can be set back up to an inch from the hard mask

Not in the case of this photo, but many costumes also black up a rectangle across the eye area of the face, so that you don't see any skin through the mask's eye holes

When you're more awake, feel free to have a go. This was my first of three carnivals so far. Maybe I ought to have another bash too ... when I'm not so tired

Thanks

Actually, my own solution has been to enlarge eyeholes in masks I've bought, and use masks with large eyeholes. The necessary work here is beyond my range of activity under all normal circumstances... And thus May Not Work...

That's a pretty impressive result John

Thanks Smile
