Photographer Ahoy ...

By KingArthur
I captured this shot three weeks ago while out on a recent birding sortie. Its the type of shot I really look forward to as the bird flies in straight towards you, the lower it is the more the shot tests your capabilities as a photographer as well as the gear you are using.

I had spotted the duck earlier on sailing in on the opposite end of the salt pans, but too far to raise any particular interest. I kept following it though, as instead of alighting as ducks normally do in the shallow marshes, it turned and headed straight towards me ..... bingo! Given that I had ample time to prepare for the shot, I allowed it to approach some 50 meters away to include the rustic salt pan shed as a fitting backdrop and fired away ..... two rapid bursts in all. I ended up preferring this frame out of the lot since it captures the duck as if its literally quacking "Photographer Ahoy" as it spotted me rise to take the shot Smile

Viewing large should put you in the thick of the action of the moment, the water droplets on its belly the added spark.

Keep all safe,
Joe Smile
