Piazzale Tronchetto

By TrevBatWCC
Tronchetto is an artificial island just to the west of the main Venice island, and is basically a big car park for traffic travelling across from the mainland. After arrival over the Ponte della Liberta (seen in my previous upload), a road diverts to the right to take motorists to the island. There is the vaporetto (waterbus) service which stops at Tronchetto to take visitors back across to Venice's main island, but this modern electric monorail train now provides a quicker and more frequent service. V2 is the monorail track, seen as we travelled underneath on the vaporetto a few seconds before V1 was taken.

You certainly do your cities in detail, Trev, which I applaud. You also get to grips with architectural details that many people ignore whether intentionally or otherwise.
V2 is the image and composition that attract me here. Excellent.

Marvellous architectural abstract in V2, tatse.
V1...well. The train looks like an animal emerging from a complicated metamorphosis, with two round skins and a third outer square skin being exited.

Interesting juxtaposition of the modern architecture and those old wooden posts.

My first impression was that this was a large version of the PepsiMax ride at Blackpool Pleasure beach, TrevWinkWink
A very modern piece of industrial design in a place that thrives on it's thrives on it's architectural splendours from past ages.
Two fine shots of the structure.

I love the contrast between the new glass and steel against the older wooden pilings in V1. The steelwork cutting across the blue sky in V2 is striking. Well done Trev.
