Hey'a, great pic. Are they actual poles stuck in the ground? Is there wire connecting them to each other? Just trying to get my head around the physics of

Hi Michaela,

Yes they are simply stuck in the ground - but how they are anchored, am not sure. There are no wires - LOL!
I don't know if you know but Holy Island gets cut-off from the mainland twice a day by the tide. In a couple of places along the length of this line are a couple of refuge boxes on stilts several feet up in case you get caught when the tide comes in.

There is also a road - off to the right connecting the island to the mainland

Hey'a Andy, wow....that's amazing! I have never heard of this place (living on the opposite side of the world and I did live in England for 18mnths in 2002/3. Shame I didn't know about it then...I might have had the opportunity to take some pics also. Great pic this one.
