Quote:It being this time of year, the spring tides were extremely high and fast-moving
For info, the term 'spring' tides has nothing to do with the time of year. They occur about every two weeks all year round around the time of full and new moon, when the moon, sun and earth are lined up. The combined gravitational pull means higher tides (more water moving) which in turn means faster moving water. In between time, at around half-moon, we get neap tides, when the gravitational effect is lowest and the tide height and rate are both minimal.
