Pine cones

I did my daily exercise around a relatively small patch of local suburban land (about 10.5 acres) that is a delightful mix of natural grassy areas, masses of deciduous trees and a few conifers. It is a haven for wildlife and dogwalkers alike. The council have sold it for yet more unnecessary new houses! Rant over. Here's a close up I took of pine cones on a lichen-covered branch.
