Pisa from the Air

It's goodbye Pisa! On returning home from my holiday there, took these images from the plane just after take-off, looking back down on the city. Though the image in the last version isn't particularly good (it took much tweaking to reduce the strong haze in the top half), it does show just how close the airport is, to the south of the city. Its main building is just over 3 km from the Cathedral and Tower, which is north of the city centre in the Piazza del Duomo, and only 1½ km away from Pisa's railway station, which is about midway between the Arno River and the airport.

Interesting set Trev. Aerial views like this often show how compact and squeezed together medieval cities were (are). A fitting farewell to your visit.

I love those red roofs - somebody had a vision with town planning.
I also love your knowledge of the proximity of all those landmarks.

What a fine set, Trev! Love the mixture of the centuries here, it must span the best part of 2000 years, and no doubt older if we had x-Ray vision and could see underground. Top aerial work, and your tweaking in v.4 works a treat 👌
Found the leaning tower in the lead image, visibly making its statement against the vertical 😀
