Place of Reflection

By WhiteRose1
I'm off up North early tomorrow for my sister-in-law's ordination in Ripon Cathedral on Sunday, so I will leave you
with a triple from my City Architecture walkabout the other week. It started at St Paul's Information office so
it would be impossible (and impolite) not to include this icon.

v1 is taken from within the new shopping complex - One New Change. Iso 400, f16, 1/500s, @24mm
v2 looking along Cannon Street. Iso 400, f16, 1/200s, @55mm
v3 from across Paternoster Square. Iso 400, f16, 1/200s, @24mm

Interestingly we were approached by security in v1 who let us take photographs looking outwards but not inwards,
and we could have gone to the roof terrace to take some as well. I suspect a tripod would not have been allowed
but it was a moot point as we didn't have one between all 12 of us.

Back Tuesday.. hopefully.

Dave

All 3 are fantastic shots but Vs 1 and 3 are the really 'wow' ones with the light, composition and colours in V3 being simply amazing.

Interesting to read your intro, dave: the number of times I have been approached by security even with the camera just slung over my shoulder........well, I have lost count.
Three fine images of St. Pauls from viewpoints so different from the usual that you have very original shots.
V 1 is excellent with the reflections and is my favourite, although any one could justifiably occupy the V 1 slot.
All the best to all with the Ripon event.

V1 has the WOW! factor, glorious light and colour and very precise composition. What I'm enjoying of course is the breaks in symmetry, the two lamps, lower left of centre, upper right of centre. They're the stars.

What a superb capture, (V1) just love the reflections....all 3 images are wonderful.
Camera's seem to be taboo all over now. I was confronted by security in Durban last week taking pics of strelizias on the pavement garden in front of a college. I was also told I have to obtain permission to take flower images in our local park.....this is ridiculous....

Three very different images, V1 and V3 are probably the strongest. V1 has the symmetry and reflections but I prefer V3, because I think it was the most difficult composition to get to work. There's so much acrchitectural interest packed into V3 and my eye gets drawn down the colonade to the left but then you meet the people and follow the vector of their gaze to St Pauls. A clever zig-zag of physical and implied lead in lines, taking the eye through the mix of architecture. Without a tripod I think creating such a complex success shows a lot of talent and skill.
