I came across this book at the weekend at an incredible price. I thought it would have potential as a prop for some conceptual landscapes. This is a test shot from Sunday night. Personally, I'm not quite happy with it, but I now have no doubt about its usefulness.

Hope you like it.

Good placement and details and tones are good, a slight shadow perhaps under the book to anchor it a little more.

Richard's right, it's the lack of shadow that jars here. It's a brilliant idea, and a very attractive one, that deserves exploration.
I'm looking forward to seeing the book reappear in some more locations.

Good point about the shadow. I think this will need to be added digitally. There usually isn't enough light to cast a shadow at the time of capture, and the flash I use to paint the image with casts a poor shadow in the wrong places if at all. For me though the problem is one of context. The narrative is not complete - add a compass and a telescope and I'll be a happy man.

Thanks again,

Gawd! I got here too late to put you off Wink
Still, time waits for no man.

How about a snoot over the flash and hold it far away from the book? SHould give a decent shadow... or a big splash Tongue

Nice image tho' Adam,

All the pages emulate the tones around , can see the attraction .

Time to make it a part...

Your idea of a compass or such like would work well - the tones and light in this are beautiful

Must have missed this one mate, very nice indeed and has a strong 3D feel to it.
