Playing favourites: Performance

Newcastle's Northumberland Street, many years ago. The little boy was the star.
This was the first time that I used the fisheye and I kept forgetting that on the D40 it needed manual focusing. So the successes were down to massive depth of field. I never made that mistake again...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Very good, Moira.
Hopefully, the time will come when we can stand close to other people without wearing face masks.

Over quite a long period of time, with some fluidity over line-up, this band was a regular weekend fixture in Newcastle. And yes, they did requests.
Thanks early birds and good morning.

I wonder if this is a clever ploy by the local businesses. Have a swing band playing upbeat, happy music to put the shoppers in a good mood and more likely to spend money...psychological friendly warfare...

If so I hope that it will resume in due course. Our high streets need to recapture a sense of animation, vitality. But this was taken nearly 13 years ago...

It'll be great to see and hear live music played in the street again, Moira.
This image has really wet my appetite for it.

Quite an orchestra there, Moira! 😃 Really suits the fisheye treatment. I tend to keep forgetting too, that using a fisheye lens you have to manual focus, whatever the camera used of make of fisheye lens. But I tend to shoot at F11, and if you set the focus just short of infinity you can't go wrong! 👍

Good use of the fish-eye in the confined space, and with the side walls curving into the frame, it gives the feeling of encompassing the band with the surroundings. The little dancer has got all the actions of future Fred Astaire! (Showing my age again!!!)
