Plaza de Espana

By KingBee
From Seville, May last year. I've processed this to be deliberately grainy. Otherwise, I'd like to have removed the distracting window on the right but then how could I have explained the light on the right wall? Could have darkened that, of course, but it was all too much work and in any case would not have been true to the image.

Many thanks to Lory and Chris for their lovely UAs for yesterday's upload, and thanks, as always, to all the rest who had a peek.

I have never been to Seville, but this is so reminiscent of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid that I had to do a double-take! It's the laborious climb beneath an archway before emerging into brilliant sunlight and often laughter and gaiety that make this so atmospheric. A character-study of an architectural feature.
More work on the image would be unnecessary in my view; after all, sufficient labour was expended on the climb up the steps.
Smashing photo, Bob!

Would love to see this place. Great mono work.
Excellent capture and great processing. I visited a few years ago so this brings back happy memories.

Your well-chosen viewpoint adds to the look of the lone figure being dwarfed by their surroundings. Add to that, a very complementary gritty b&w treatment, and the result is top class, Bob.

The perfect processing for the subject matter, Bob.
Excellent image.

I don't think it would have worked so well without the light patch on the right. I like the double view of the outside. Smile
