Keep up the good work, Harriet. This type of flower is not at all easy because the centre is recessed. Your focus is better on the inside of the petals, but it's really not a bad effort. I would personally have gone in closer, just to ensure it was the stamens that were the sharpest. I have done a modification and have put it on your last CG entry of the dragonfly. I was trying to show you a composition that may be more pleasing, placing the stamens on the top right third and fairly drastically cropping your image. A bit of levels adjustment was done, too. I've also given you something else to consider, and have done another mod with the flower mirrored, because the human eye moves across an image from left to right.

That has been puzzling me about macro. I have bought the macro lens and I read that you can focus on one leg of a grasshopper or such but is it acceptable to crop to get that one leg? I have been having a lot of trouble focussing but I am going to practice. Thanks for your advice, but how do you go in closer? By cropping? I am as near as the focus will let me go. Sometimes I feel like going under the table and having a good cry. (Joking but it IS frustrating).
I have looked at your modification and you are perfectly right and I can only hope that I will learn soon and be able to get something even half as good as you do.
Another question please. Do I mark every helpful advice I get as constructive critique. Sorry I have not done this as I havenīt been sure about it.
