Plume

By Consulo
Shot at the tail end of a very cold day in December in Dunbar. I'd seen this chimney pouring out a plume of smoke into the clear sky for most of the afternoon and I'd wanted to shoot it whilst the sun was hitting it, but I wasn't far enough along the coast and when I did get near enough the sun was setting. I wanted to shoot a long exposure with it anyway, so the dying light helped lengthen the exposure without the need of a filter. The smoke also caught the artificial lights as well which I was quite happy with.

Thanks for looking,
Michael.

It's amazing how beautiful total eyesores can be photographically, in the right light. The colour is really quite magical.

What I admire about your work Michael, is how you see the potential in the "ordinary" and turn it into the extraordinary. Another minimalistic image where the composition is spot on.

You've turned an industrial image into a beautiful work of art. Very nicely done indeed.

How wonderfully inventive. One of the most simple yet highly effective images I've ever seen on this site.

regards.
