Polesden Lacey Pergola

By pamelajean
Some strong shadows and the planter at the end of the arbour (see version).

Polesden Lacey is an Edwardian house and estate located on the North Downs at Great Bookham, near Dorking, Surrey, England.

This beautiful country estate was designed as the perfect setting for Margaret Greville, a well-known Edwardian hostess and wealthy heiress, to entertain royalty, politicians and the best of Edwardian society.
Sadly her husband Ronald passed away in 1908, but Margaret remained at Polesden Lacey for many years, entertaining a stream of high profile guests, including Winston Churchill and Kings Edward VII, George V and George VI.

Grateful thanks to all who took the time to look, vote and comment on “Succession”.

Pamela.

Two beautifully composed images; I like both equally. The symmetry and sense of balance it creates is very satisfying! (Probably channeling my inner Hercule Poirot!!!) SmileSmileSmile Thanks for the historical notes - it's nice to have a little context.

Two very pleasing images, so very well composed. I tried taking a small pergola recently and not as easy as I thought. I was very thankful for Photoshop. GrinGrinGrinGrin

Amazing perspective Pamela, looks very Mediterranean. To me like grape vines could be hanging down the arbor . Stellar light and shot
