Poli Grappa

By TrevBatWCC
Shortly after leaving the Music Museum shown on my previous upload, passed by this shop 'Poli Grappa', the bottles with their old style stoppers & metal clasps catching my eye. I'd never heard of Grappa before, and on looking it up, it's an alcoholic beverage - a fragrant, grape-based pomace brandy of Italian origin that contains 35 to 60 per cent alcohol by volume.
The flavour of Grappa, like that of wine, depends on the type and quality of the grapes used, as well as the specifics of the distillation process. It's made by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems (i.e., the pomace) left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes.
This impressive window display begged to be photographed, even if I didn't go in and buy a bottle! 😀

Many thanks to Peter (Mollycat), Phil (PhilT2), Bill (BillRookery), Dave (HobbitDave) and Ian (dales) for their User Awards on my previous upload, Il Museo della Musica , and also to Arne (Saastad) for his User Award on my earlier upload From Ponte dell' Accademia: a closer view , most appreciated 🏆👍

Raw images processed in Nikon Capture NX-D, tweaked in Nik Collection's Viveza 2 and Photoshop Elements 14.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😀👍

There are also many versions of home made Grappa around that many immigrants from Europe make here in their backyard sheds , many would curl your hair or remove it !! Excellent shot Trev

Another cracker in what has been a wonderful series, Trev. Must agree with Eric, not so much about the hic, thud, but about the sharpness. Technical excellence is a trademark of yours, and carried through on the images on your website, I've just been enjoying.

Last time I imbibed alcohol from a bottle with that type of stopper was Grolsch beer some years back. I had a customer when I was a sales rep. who gave me a very good 'mates rates' fon a crate at a time.Wink

Very amiss of you not to test the quality!Wink

Not heard of Grappa? You must have led a quiet life😁😁😁

One of the first things we do on holiday is to sample the local ' fire water' (if it's clear, it's dangerous)..and a beer...

My favourite was a homemade Hungarian schnapps... enough to blow your socks off!!!!

Great picture 😁
