Police at bridge suicide attempt

Lockdown has proved difficult for many, and for many more, life is constantly unbearable. In Bolton, there's a bridge that has become a notorious spot for suicide attempts, despite preventive measures being installed.

Yesterday, traffic around the town ground to a halt for hours, as a result of yet another attempt. It's difficult to cover stuff like this, by giving it coverage, are you encouraging it. You usually can't get anywhere near anyway, and frankly, I wouldn't want to trigger someone's actions.

Sadly, the comments in the local paper from readers show the usual level of toxicity towards someone vulnerable, with the odd bit of racism thrown in.

A sad story. Looking at the comments on the Bolton News article, the site's standards of moderation appear to be appallingly low. But this is not unusual
