this was taken on holiday in turky likes the way the red poppys stood out from the old roman ruins

hi, the idea is sound and the near mono bg contrasts well with the poppies. to get the best from this i think you could have reduced the central buch of poppies to 3 flowers and removed the one close to the left side of frame and cropped a little tighter to get rid of the strip of grass at the top/

then muliply 2 layers at about 60 % opacity to give a more gutsy exposure. nice idea though, i saw some much like this in Kos a few years ago

in the mod above, obviously i couldnt do the poppy removal but i rotated the canvas and cropped before making a contrast and curves adjustment together with a layer blend

A well seen image, but it needs to be brighter. Just use the histogram or the brightness tool - you don't need a lot of processing. I suspect a bit of under exposure where the near white stone has told your camera to under expose. Auto systems can still easily be fooled in this day and age.
