PORTRAITS IN LOW-LIGHT CONDITIONS

By hobbo
As an avid Street Photographer who uses vintage lenses on fully manual settings ...low light conditions can cause careful thinking plus high ISO and other settings.

The skate boarder with the orange hair was sitting on a bench in a poorly lit corner of a shopping arcade ...After he agreed for me to shoot his portrait, I fumbled the settings twice, so third time, I had to nail it....

Noise levels well up....but to me, they add to the colour version, making the portrait more like a painting or pastel study.

The mono version, was rescued by using a Nik Efex Film-Noir filter, that caters beautifully for high ISO noisy shots.

I never use a flash......much preferring this type of photographic challenge.

Great portrait, I like the colour in the first version.
