Postie Box

Large size Penfold pillar box type PB 9/1, designed by John Penfold and manufactured by Cochrane & Co Ltd Dudley, West Midlands between 1872 & 1879. This box stands on the corner of Water Street and The Square Buxton, Derbyshire, opposite the celebrated theatre architect Frank Matcham designed Buxton Opera House, of which opened amidst great celebrations on 1 June 1903.
