That's a better commute than most of us have, Partick!

You've been a member of Ephotozine for several years, so I assume that you know that the Critique Gallery is for thoughtful feedback and ideas for alternatives or improvements.

However, it helps if we know what you make of hte picture - the more you can tell us about what you wanted and whether you got it, the better.

Program mode is not a great way to shoot real pictures, because it gives the camera control of shutter speed and aperture, both of which you may need to set to specific values for crearive reasons.

Shooting from a 'plane, vibration is often a problem, and so a higher shutter speed is good. This woudl go hand in hand with a wider paerture, which would, in turn, throw any imperfections in the 'plane's windows out of focus. Some loss of contrast is inevitable, as the Perspex will be scratched in palces. I'd have used Shutter priority, and set 1/500 or 1/1000, and let the aperture open to f/4. Quality at that distance with a 50mm f/1.4 own't be an issue! (It coudl be with a zoom lens.)

You can recover some of the colour and contrast in processing - I shall do a modification accordingly.

And I still wish I had this view on the way to work!

Thank you for the comments guys. Yes every helicopter I have worked with the Perspex windows are always very scratched up and yellowed from usage. I do agree it is always nice to fly, gives a whole new perceptive. Patrick

I wonder why, with Program AE and -1 stop compensation the image is so dramatically over exp[osed? normally I would have expected gross under exposure with the sun that bright. However, it is over exposed and needed several stops less.

Ra was very powerful!

Its diffuse and overly bright alright.

Two mods have this glare reduced.
