Powick

By ringyneck
A week after killing my new telephoto lens in the mud I thought I would dice with danger with my old one. This time in the dark as well.
This is a Mill/pumping house type tower just north of Powick, near Worcester. It is virtually on the banks of the river Teme, which was flowing quite well and swirling around.Had to gingerly edge right near the water, almost lying down.
If anyone knows the name and what it's used for it would be great.

Please see LARGE + F 11

f/3.5, 1/4 sec, iso 400 and 14 mm focal length.

UPDATE....Thanks to Robmacd now know this was an Hydro-electric power station and was the 1st commercial one constucted in Europe, providing street lighting for Worcester from 1896.

Good effort. Dont want to be a killjoy as the first person to comment but althought it has nice amber lights and glow, the surounding shot is just a tad too dark IMHO.

Leave near here. Good shots. I prefer V2...

Thanks Robin,
I know it's very dark, but at that time of day it WAS. I was drawn to it by the vast difference of the lights and the dark surroundings.
I tried to "rescue" it a bit but as it was not there to be seen it just went all wrong ...very pale and noisey.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and vote.
Cheers, Keith.

You don't go for easy shots, do you...! I wouldn't want this any darker, but the midnight blues are sumptuous, and I'm seeing a fair amount of detail on my monitor, particularly viewed large. V2 for me, I know I get obsessive about vertical format but here it works.

really like this shot a lot.. the time of day/evening you took this works really well with the light and reflection...adds mystery to the shot

I have to admit that I find it a little too dark. Carol

Good work.. Plenty of detail viewed large and some colour noise (expected)

Well, monitors vary, etc, but the light is nice on mine-- the red/oranges emit a wonderful glow--- just enough detail to say It is here, and it is nighttime!

The light is nice on my monitor too and I love the colour. Have a well-deserved 30.
