Prayer Wall, Langtang

By viscostatic
Each of the stones in this wall has a prayer inscribed on it. Walkers must always pass to the left of the wall. The mountains in the distance were our destination.

Thank you to all who have viewed, voted and commented recently with special thanks to Jules for his award for 'Mushroom and Moss.

Oh wow, those are some serious peaks in the distance.

Yes, it really was. When I went to Annapurna Base Camp in 2014 I thought it was an experience of a lifetime. This was even better - absolutely magical.

I read some books about the area you traveled in-- Amazing scenery, but it is the prayer wall that intrigues me so!

The Tamang who live in Langtang are a very religious people. In the tea house at Kjanjin Gompa we went for breakfast every morning at 6.30 to find the woman who owned the tea house in the dining room chanting her prayers, burning incense and filling bowls with holy water to arrange around the room. Last thing in the evening it was common to hear prayers chanted as we went to sleep.
