Preyed upon

By moiral
Afternoon all. Yesterday I was away doing a workshop - golden eagle and a merlin with their prey. Unfortunately the birds did not get to fly yesterday due to the weather conditions. Was very cold, windy and rain at times. Still it was a great privilege to see birds that I would seldom see or have the opportunity to photograph in the wild. Have just had time for a quick look at the shots. This is not one of the best shots but is one of my favourites. Unfortunately I lost the top of the wing because the eagle decided to haul his mountain hare further up the bank. This eagle is a 12 year old male. Thanks for C&Cs on last upload. Now off to sort through the 800+ shots I took yesterday.

Good shot. Losing part of wing doesn't detract!

Pity the wing tip eluded you, but still an excellent shot, Moira, the action well frozen and captured in fine detail.
A lot better than anything I would achieved, I assure you.
I'm glad I'm not having rabbit for dinner tonight. Not that it would stop the Eagle, or you from taking the shot. Sharp as a tack Moira, well done that lens is quite a handful to handle and move at the same time.

Raw nature well caught! Pity about the weather. Exceptionally busy just now and should have been attending to other things yesterday but it was such a great day I had to get out and about. When do you go to Venice .( My question mark key won't work !!!)gill

An outstanding shot of a rather grisly scene Moira, raw nature indeed, pity about the wing, with that completely in, it would have been an award winner I'm sure!
