Thanks for all the comments and mods on this series so far. Really appreciated

Another Prom shot with the Oldsmobile, hope you are not getting bored with these.
This was taken in the rain, poor girls, and again I had only about 10 mins to take a number of shots.

Still messing with different types of processing and trying to expand on my use of Photoshop skills, as they are very limited. I think I may have over sharpened this in smart sharpen. Is this tool a good idea, what do others think ? Was pleased with my bit of BG blurring though. You may think different.

Thanks as always

Super-inventive pose & composition and magnificent toning. The blurring is fine.
When I used Picasa I found the sharpening extremely aggressive; I believe the same can be said of auto-sharpening in general. I don't actually find this overdone, except that the pebble constituent of the tarmac does seem rather prominent. I always use USM now myself - if I think to use any sharpening at all.

Still a wonderful image, either!
like it. the blurring looks totally fake to be honest, as it it done much too sudden (not gradually enough). But, in a way it looks appealing, as it creates a macro effect, so you got your toy car with barbie doll lol. those lines on the rhs add nicely to the shot.
Very Cool....Luv this and her gown looks abosolutely Gorgeous!

Very classy shots
Love the way you have arranged this.
Like how you have blurred the background in v1, would suggest you try that with v2 and so still keep that wonderfully rich red colour of the dress
This is my favourite so far.

#1 as the houses have been blurred. I like the use of the lines, on the road, as part of the composition

thanks all for your comments and clicks

Love that Mod, Alex, you really are so good at these Smile

Koen, I dont know what difference doing it gradually would make, in fact it took ages anyway. But hey, at least I know where the Blur tool is though lol Smile

16 Jul 2008 11:02AM
well, basically now the blur suddenly starts at the front of the houses. Even the sidewalk is still sharp. normally it would go more gradually... part of the road a bit oof, the sidewalk slightly more, and finally the houses still a bit more. with macro photography you see a very sudden decline of things being in focus... just like here. which is why I made the reference. it creates a feel of the things being in focus being very small. There's even a technique to do this macro-alike dof in post processing on mass scenes with loads of people (stadium shots for example). Really gave you the feeling you were looking at little toy people. Which I loved (think there was a thread in the forum with a link about it once). But here - for this scene - it feels a bit wrong to me tbh, allthough I still find it an attractive photo.
There's another tool in PS btw... under filter --> blur --> lens blur. but you have to select the part of the photo that should be sharp (or use layers, don't really know that well how to use it), so it's still a lot of work, and the result is still often disappointing.

just babbling btw Smile

PS : like the mod

wow this is really a glam processing job D, super. you've got some major "power of pyramid" shapes at play in this composition, quite brilliant!

V1 is really nice, - love the pose and toning, - agree with Koen re the blur, more gradual is more realistic but more difficult to do.

V.1 all the way for me, Dianna, there is such a great feel to this, truly a classy shot. And I don't mind the blur as it is, as the idea of this shot, and its composition fully justifies using it the way you did.

And what'ya mean if we're getting bored?! I'm enjoying it, dammit! Really cool session

Excellent shot; I love the use of those lines. Beautifully manipulated.
Here Again Dianna!
Another wonderful shot from your prom series!
I love the sepia toning and slight soft focus, it makes it slightly surreal and dream-like.
also the composition is fantastic.
look forward to seeing more of your pics.
Lovely compostion
