Puffin with sand eels

By deemac
This was much easier than catching the little blighter in flight!

For those who have been asking, I've found out now how the puffins manage to keep all those sand eels in their beak. They have a very strong tongue and they use that to hold the ones they've already caught while catching the next one. Brilliant! You can't help but love these little birds long as you're not a sand eel.

Actually I've probably over-sharpened it a bit in the process of preparing it for show on here. Oops. Thanks for noticing the feet Dorothy. I have several similar shots and chose this one because of the feet :o)

An excellent wildlife shot. The out of focus background and foreground enhance the image by giving an impression of the environment without distracting from the main subject.
