Pump House

By gingerdelight
An image I put together a while ago now, this is the Pump House and chimney at the Albert Dock, Liverpool. I actually took it in bright sunshine but wanted to do something different so I added an image of the moon I took separately and then some texture to make it look like night.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on my last upload, all much appreciated, and a very special thank you to ChrisStyles for his UA, a lovely surprise!

A very creative and artistic bit of processing, Carol. Because of the original building shot being taken in bright sunlight, there is inevitably strong highlights on one side the chimney and facade of the tower, so the moon needs to be carefully placed for it's light to illuminate this same areas, and I think this is where things don't quite gel for me.
If you were to take another shot with the tower and chimney at the same time of day in landscape format with them over to the right side of the frame and place the moon more towards the left, it would work perfectly.
Certainly worth another go as the result here is amazing , other than for my comments above.

Makes a great image Carol.
Your imagination is always so good.
I'm afraid I'd get it wrong if I tried a composite.
I have changed skies in images in the past but
always sure I'll get caught out!

A great area to explore with the camera - is this still a pub? It was when I was last there, and had my lunch in there Wink Agree with Ronnie about the position of the moon and the illumination of the building...but what a great piece of work, Carol, like it a lot Smile

Excellent processing work Carol, the only improvement I would suggest would have been to have made the moon a tad smaller, it rather dominates this image
