Pumping Station

By FotoDen
The old pumping station at the Beelitz Heilstätten (Sanitorium) which is being restored. Its history begins in 1898, when Berlin’s health insurance authority bought around 140 hectares in Beelitz to build a tuberculosis sanatorium and nursing home. The newly built 600-bed capacity treatment center opened in early 1902, with separate facilities for men and women.
Hitler and Honecker were treated here for injuries/ailments sustained in World War I and East Germany’s last days.
