Great shot John and those older cameras did have a great look to their images. Also we didn't seem to change them as often.
I have two mods both B&W as I didn't the colour to get in the way (as hey say). I also feel that B&W works better for portraits as the time of the image. I got to a point of softening the picture when I didn't know which way to go over the eye in the shadow. The first mod I kept light and the second I added a little more drama with a darker look to it. Hope you like them.

Wow, I'm stunned by the texture of the skin! I feel like there's no monitor between her and I, and that I could reach out and touch her face - that's rather amazing 
It's also a beautiful pose - so gentle, so unassuming but with that quiet fire in the eyes.
While I do like Robert's second mod (the drama one), there's something so 'pure' (spot-on-title) about this that I'd be hesitant to change it too much.
