PURNULULU NATIONAL PARK

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Purnululu National Park is located in North East of Western Australia in the Kimberley region. The nearest town is Kununurra (250 km to the north), or Halls Creek (120 kmto the south). You canít say they are big towns.

Purnululu National Park is listed as a World Heritage site. The area has been inhabited by local Indigenous people for for centuries but the rest of the world discovered its existence in the mid 1980s.

Purnululu is the name given to the sandstone area of the Bungle Bungle Range by the Kija Aboriginal people. The name means sandstone or may be a corruption of bundle grass...
The 53 km Spring Creek Track is a great adventure. The National Park is only accessible in the dry season (from early April to the end of December) and a high clearance four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle is required as the track is like corrugated iron and also you have to cross some river beds on the way.

I wish I knew the name of this flower still beautiful in its dried/seed head state.

Jean, you have once again provided me with an extremely interesting and informative foreword which has been supported by a rather beautiful set of striking images, each fuelled with this gorgeous warm and welcoming light. Photograph number one being the pick of the bunch, simply beautiful.

Regards Nathan

Wonderful shots and lovely light, but my favourite is the first. The plant looks like made of pearls.
