PURPLE PASSION

By chrisevans
On Sunday I'm asking Alessandra if she can manage a short notice location shoot. By Tuesday evening we're collapsing back into the car after an afternoon shooting at the stunningly beautiful Lavender Farm just South of London. I don't do much location shooting, I really like the idea but the organizing and the permutations of things that can go wrong always put me off, especially as I like to use off camera location flash. But we did it, Alessandra was amazing, and patient and very accommodating to help in any way. I used my D800, various lenses on the day but this shot was taken with my trusted 70-200mm because I wanted to compress and blur the background. I used a single off camera strobe camera left with remote trigger. I originally had the white balance set warm but as this was a RAW file I've since cooled it down as I wanted the Lavender to be shown in its true colour. All exposures adjusted by eye from the back of the camera screen, environment about 1 stop under exposed with Alessandra filled in with a reasonable correct exposure. The Lavender bush in the foreground left has a little more flash spill than I would like but its what happens on location, no flags or grids.
