Push of Pike

By Philip_H
Thanks for all the C&Cs on 'Uneasy' and a special thank you to Moira (Mrswoolybill) for her UA and wise words Grin

Moira once said that photographing sculpture is about conveying the subject honestly but creating your own picture from it. I hope I achieved that with yesterday's upload and with this one.

This upload is part of two opposing English Civil War sculptures on the parapets of Sidbury Bridge, Worcester. Created by Lawrence Walker, a Herefordshire blacksmith, the galvanised steel artwork conveys the action around Sidbury Gate which was so decisive to the outcome of the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

Best wishes,

I like the way you have gone in close, into the empty shadows under the helmets. This says 'defensive' to me.

Very sympathetically captured, but being slightly irreligious they do remind me of Michael Bentine potty characters.
