Do you see shadows, or do you see reflections?
Focus on one and you seem to loose the other.

I seem to take most of my shadow pictures at dinner time at school. That's because I'm free then. However this Thursday I had a few minutes to take some photos earlier in the morning, and so was able to get shadows in very different directions.
This shot is the first, with reflections and shadows creating a pattern in themselves which reminds me of a herringbone pattern

I've removed the concrete and blue bars in a second tighter crop
Thanks for looking

V2 for me, by several miles. I love the simpler composition, uncluttered by too much reality.

Excellent as always.
I think you need #2 to help you understand #1. In particular it emphasises the diagonal shadows on the right that are not so immediately noticeable in the complete picture. There is a possible half-way house, a crop of #1 along the prominent horizontal bar. Just a thought, for comparison only.

I'm with Moira, I think the simplified version 2 has much more impact. I also agree with Bill, a crop from the horizontal bar works really well too,

If horizontal and vertical lines meet at their axis at certain points, you will lose the perspective on how you perceive these lines.Have you ever seen that one,of what looks like a metal fork? At the first look you see two prongs of the fork.Look again you see three prongs.Your perseption of what you see changes each time.It all depends on what part your brain will focus on at the axis of the lines.Another interesting one here Helen. You can certainly come up with them.
