Queen of Front Street Receives a Sprinkling of Snow

By BobbyMS
The Flatiron Building has been an icon of Toronto for many decades, and has been photographed 233,750,711,882,737 times, or so it seems. With trepidation, I submit my version, taken during a light snowfall.

When I was teaching at George Brown College, I used to see her on my way back from the St Lawrence Market which I miss. Great contrast between the 'Queen' and the modern office towers behind her.

I love the contrasts between the flat iron building and the more modern edifices, Bobby.

Thank you both for your comments; the "backdrop" of modern towering structures is one of the things I like about the image.

Peter, we used to patronize St. Lawrence Market years ago, but for some reason have stopped. Really should start up again---a great oasis in the city, even if somewhat inconvenient for us to drive there.

I like the fact that the backdrop is filled with the buildings and there is no sky showing, and I think the snow adds a lot of atmosphere. The Queen stands out so proud against the modern buildings. The bits of strong colour dotted around really lift the picture, too.

What a building I love it shape and stature the surrounding buildings tower above it but make no impression
The structure is timeless and some how comforting.

Superb
