Quick smoke before we go over the top

By eonisuk
Taken at the war and peace show at Paddock Wood this year

a group of first world war re-enactment had dug a trench and were waiting for the germans to build theirs, time for a quick smoke before they went over the top

taken in black and white and then digitally confused.

thanks for looking

I like the toning, suits the scene well. the QORWKR - Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment won an award for their trench and reenactment at this years War & Peace Show, was well deserved! Smile

What an excellent image. Very realistic with the toning. I also like the way the bayonet stuck in the trench wall just waiting for the final moment.

Thank you for the image description. I could believe that the photo was real as I think you have done a good job on the processing.

However, the main reason why I like it is because of the moment you have caught, it is entirely believable to me that this could represent a situation actually during the war. I think you have captured a fleeting moment that could have happened just before they went over, a last fag.
