Ramanathaswamy Temple

By sawsengee
The quadangle corridors of the Ramanathaswamy Temple on the Island of Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu........the temple is reputed to have a thousand pillars of colourful ornamentation. Photography was strictly forbidden inside but don't ask me how I managed to "sneak" my Pentax camera into the temple complex undetected!!!
Here are links to the temple's significance:

THANK YOU Joline for the GEA and to those numerous UAs, votes and pleasant usual deep appreciation. ee GrinGrinGrin

Fantastic in every way, ee including getting the picture in the first place.
And it's not how we take our picture's it's all about getting them that matters. Excellent! Smile

What an exquisite building, and such a shame many of these places ban photography, presumably because it's considered disrespectful, but I would argue the opposite - that wanting to capture the beauty for posterity is an act of great respect. So, good for you, ee, and it was worth the trouble.

Wonderful and so very colourful. A lovely, if 'illegally' acquired, capture, Sawsengee! 👍 I agree with Allan, shame that in some of the best places to photograph, it's not allowed, but our images are helping promote to promote them - for free. I remember visiting the Vatican Museum in Rome, you could take photos anywhere except in the Sistine Chapel. However, once in there, dozens of visitors were snapping away on their phones or compact cameras and security had an impossible job to stop people. I was a bit more conspicuous with my DSLR, but still managed 4 or 5 shots, before being told "No photography"! 😁

Well done ee in smuggling your camera. Never understood why they have this policy when everybody else are using their phones. Great shot
