Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station (The Cloud Maker)

This image of Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station at sunrise was taken from the higher ground near Stanton-By_Dale.
On a cold winters morning the power station sometimes springs into action as people draw on power as they are preparing for the day such as central heating starting up, showers being used and all those kettles boling for the first hot drink of the day
As of January 2022, Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station is one of only three coal-fired power stations left in the UK, and is scheduled to close in September 2024.

Great composition, like the title. As photographers, we should be recording these places. I remember photographing Ironbridge Power Station many times in the mist, now no more. Jon.

A familiar sight, albeit it at some distance from us on the north side of Nottingham, and strangely compelling when the rising steam and smoke creates its own cloud formations. Cracking image and title! 😀
