RAW Challenge 6

By answersonapostcard
This is the epz RAW Challenge No. 6!

(This is not a regular gallery entry, so do not click/vote!)

The idea is to download the RAW file (screen shot shown above) from here , process it in a RAW processing program, and use it to come up with the perfect gallery print. Sort out its faults or challenges, enrich it, give it life and then post the 500 pixel version in the modifications section that comes with this page (see below).

If you haven't got RAW conversion software, you can download a free trial of Capture One from here .

Judging on Monday 25th September 2007, results around 9pm.

Prize: 6 months e2 membership (new e2 members, or a 6 month extension in case an existing e2 member wins). There will be only one winner and one prize, runners up may get a chocolate hob nob or two Wink

You dont have to be an expert, anyone can take part its about learning, enjoying, having fun and taking part.

Lastly a request: If at all possible, please include a brief description of the most important actions/settings used to process and improve the image - that would greatly enhance the learning experience for others.

If you want to see how RAW challenges go, have a look at the previous one here .

David - just out of professional interest (and nosiness), how did you 'close the back of the dress' ?

Just spent 20 mins p~~~ing about with the transform tool and eventually did it in five mins with the clone tool.

Nick, funny you should say that your images desaturated when uploaded. I think mine saturated! Paul

Actually, I didn't close the dress. It's the old man's upload, not mine, but I'll lay odds I know how he did it...

Downloaded, looked at it, tried to do something with it.. but actually quite like it as it is, and any mod I tried to do only made a minor difference. Like the set.

Has the result been delayed in view of the recent site problems?

Firstly thanks everyone for entering. I'm not going to analyse or evaluate each upload but I have shortlisted my favourites ... so here goes.

Zanda, nice conversion and using the curtain on the other side framed Bonny nicely but the dark shadow under the eye lets it down slightly.

Kaybee, (first image) only slightly too saturated and possibly a little too much softening, but only just.

Nick Parry... nicely processed as a whole but the eyes a shade too processed.

ColWol, nicely cropped.

Nigel_95. (second) very nicely processed but personally feel that if background was softened slightly it may be better ?

Munkyboy - loved the treatment on this.

Gupter - nicely done but a tad light for me.

So thats the shortlist... now for the winner...... and for me.....

Munkyboy (first of the two uploads).

Thanks again everyone for entered, hope you enjoyed it Smile

Blimey... just checked in to see if you had decided on a winner yet, and it's me!!

Thanks very much K Smile I now feel it was worth sitting up 'til 3 am working on it - I didn't the next morning....

So, do I have to provide the image for the next one?
