Two rings. One rusty, one not...
Very appropriate for a day like today! As Annete says: We challenge you to find the other three... IB

The LHS ring certainly does have "character" compared to the RHS ring Mike - maybe a recycled teething ring ? - fine shot ...Bill

Another three and your home and dry for gold, Mick: that newish untarnished ring does lack character.

couldn't have said it any better Mick, adds character and you found a good one.

A good contrast between the two rings against some super texture ~ and of course rings are in at the moment.

You are so right Mick, but there again I would not dare to argue with youWinkWink Love the contrasting rings, especially that nice clean one! A very good shot Mick with superb clarity and detail, you can even see the paler ring shapes on the ground where they have 'rested'.
28 Jul 2012 7:56AM
I agree Mick, much prefer the model on the left,

I don't hold with this five-rings lark, Mick.
Ultimately the ring that matters is the ring on the doorbell from the men in white coats Smile
I do rather like your composition, the cracked paving and the algae and the one-with-one-without set-up. A Stevie Wonder for our times?????!!!!!

P.S.: In view of the severe admonishment administered last week I thought I ought to warn you that I had planned to post another picture from Fairfield Church in Kent next Friday that includes three of those white fluffies whose identity we disputed recently. Since I took the photo before you drew my attention to the small print of paragraph 3b of Rule 1 (of which I did not have a copy, as previously explained) I hope my action might be sanctioned so long as I promise not to do it again . . .

Love that. I was thinking of the ghost of rust past. In any case a pale, wasted shadow of the Real Thing.

A fine example of how dull things are without a little creative ageing and decay. It applies to people too!

A stunning example of awareness, the image could be a metaphor for many of life's little observations.

Yes, I'm with Lynne on this however, I seem to only be getting the 'ageing and decay' without the creative bit!Sad

Must agree with you Mick, good comparison.
Like the way you've put the rings on a diagonal, adds a little more to the shot.

28 Jul 2012 12:03PM do have a point, Mick. I find it easier and more rewarding to photograph older roses than fresh roses.

Although I bet Olympians would rather grab on to Roman rings like the one on the right Wink

The one on the right is far superior and adds a great deal to the image whilst the rusty one does need to be cleaned up a bit. That floor is a bit dirty and cracked. You could so easily rectify this is ps6 or some other editing suite..... Go on know you want to.
