Part of my series of Ashley in Leith. Have a read of the text in the other series to understand why the truck and bins are still in the background. I hope you like the playful nature of the model.
Thank you to Maggie Mowbray for allowing us use of her current collection of hats.
like it ..
Like it bar for that truck in the back roundseams to catch your eye
Very nice indeed! Interestingly I know exactly where that is as I work next door (bike sheds behind you, right?)! I would never have thought to use it as a shoot location but it works very well.
Shame about the bin and lorry? (If nobody minds me pointing them out???)
Nice looker though.
Thanks all for the votes/ comments. i can assure you that it is the comments that make it all the more interesting. I think that having posted the last 4 images with objects in the background, it appears that most photographers feel that they should be removed and that is even with the necessity of the objects to identify the location. I see John that you work nearby, could you tell me if you get the concept of the lat 4 images. I am trying to show Leith as it is on a normal day against a fashion element.
Normally I would have tidied up the image to make it look more appealing however I am hoping it will appeal to the small Leith community.
I sort of get the concept but I think you need to go a little wider to get more of the surroundings. In this particular shot the lorry is intruding into the shoot even though you want to include Leith as a backdrop. If you went wider then the surroundings would get more attention and it would appear more intentional whereas in this shot the lorry looks more like a mistake. Around the corner (to the right of this image), there's a busy intersection with a large traffic island in the middle of the crossing - shoot there with the street and traffic as the backdrop. Shooting in alleyways and zooming in, it gives the impression you are trying to get away from the area. I like the series and I definitely want to see more.
Cheers John. I will need some time to digest that but I see what you mean. Will come back to you with my thoughts later.
I like the her walking style. Nice image.
