Red

By chase
Red Geranium from my garden, still going strong despite the recent winds.

Lit by diffused daylight camera left and a small red, darkroom light opposite.
The bg is a piece of lining wall paper which I painted with watercolours.

The Ladybird was free Wink

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.

I just had a play with the HSL tool to give a cool look, selectively adjusting the red and yellow components.
Because I could Smile

A lesson in colour coordination, Janet. A wee rotation clockwise as it it ever so slightly leaning left.
Do you think this would work as well if you swapped the bottles? Cutting the stem so that the flower head isn't any higher than now? Just a 'variation-on-a-theme' thoughtSmile

Swapping the bottles would work I reckon Malc, only prob I could see is that the very large flower head would be too close to the neck of the red bottle, perhaps making the frame a bit 'stubby'.
I like to keep you on your toes with the rotation issues Wink

Always liked red...

I've added a mod;
i. Straightened a little.
ii. Added some contrast.
iii. Sharpened a tad.

Not sure if I've made it a little to 'clinical' but hope you like it.

Thanks all.
Somnath, wonderful to have your UA, many thanks, appreciated.

Thanks for the mod Dave, not too convinced with the extra sharpening and the contrast, I see light halos developing Sad
Rotation works on that front bottle though...Specsavers are me Wink

To my mind the original has worked well. Apologies Janet I would have given this an award but I have used up all my allocation. David

This really jumps out at you! Lovely reds with just enough white in the bowl and a touch of green in the flower stalk for relief, the background is spot on too.
I'm not sure that swapping the bottles would work, the clear one looks a squarer shape the the red so balances the round flower better, also the "see through" effect would be lost. As for dark lord's mod, maybe one could produce a Warhol set in different colours Wink

Beautiful shades of red. You have managed to get them perfectly coordinated.....not always easy with reds.

A very lovely arrangement and set-up...of course! And my favourite colour too, which adds to it's appeal to me 😉 I do agree about the straightening up as David has shown in his mod, but it is a bit nit-picking! 😁👍
