Detail just where it matters Kate imo.
Lovely close up. I use my long lens when I forget to take my macro. I prefer the macro lens for flowers though.

I don't mind a softer look with flowers, it seems to suit the subject. This is lovely.

Nowt wrong with this, Kate! A very lovely capture, well isolated from its background 👍 Agree with Joline about a slight softness working well on flowers 😀

Beautifully captured and presented, Kate: the wide aperture has separated the subject so nicely from the b/g.

You did well with that tricky long lens! a lovely bg rendering as well as a well togged flower!

An excellent shot Kate. I love this for it's simplicity, and it's beauty. Pam

Yes, more often than not, I use the same focal length lens for flowers, Kate.
It helps to produce a better picture all round, but! Even with an image stabilizer, you do have to stand extremely still and hold your breath when pressing the button. Smile

Wonderful composition and a very beautiful capture, Kate!
I suppose (1/8 sec) that you have used a tripod with this lens, so, in my opinion the problem of any reduced sharpness is due to the possible subtle movement of the plants due to even weak wind. I use also the 300mm for macro and often I face this problem.

Superbly captured & presented Kate
