RED HOT POKER

By cymru2019
We went on holiday in 2018 and visited some formal gardens in East Sussex. After coming back I had a go at using textures from Topaz. I came up with this arty presentation, was not happy with it, and distanced ( to use a word in vogue at the present ) myself from trying anything like this again. However as I am now learning about layer masks and blurring backgrounds I hope to be able to present better pictures in the future on EPZ. Interestingly enough the Government says house moves can be on again. We are one of those in a frozen chain. So many questions as to whether in the due course of time we actually move into the realms of reality and the house move goes through or whether this is all wishful thinking. To those of you who live in East Sussex you have a beautiful county, - we stayed in Pevensey Bay - but even with years of experience of driving in the emergency services I am not up to having harrowing experiences on the M25.again.

May be a little underexposed and over saturated. Tried a mod.

Thanks Fred. Willie - you are right. I went through a phase of being garish - not to be repeated! David

I think you are getting on the right track now. A nice rendition of a Red Hot Poker with bright red colours, which are perhaps a little dark. I have lightened the shadows and overall. Also given a slight tilt instead of being perpendicular. Any better as at the end of the day it is what you prefer.

A hot shot. Red is not always an easy colour to work with. I have done a mod with a few touches in PS. Mod 4 I forgot to change the colour profile, corrected in mod 5, at least it shows the difference a profile can make.Smile

Around here the M25 is the local country road.Wink

Camerawork: a wider aperture would have left no need for blurring the background...

Next time!

Ivor, country lanes around here are country lanes. If the M25 is a country lane perhaps it is like that about 3am in the morning. When lockdown finsishes come and enjoy the country lanes in parts of NW England or North Wales! Seriously though thanks for your mods I used a texture from Topaz right across the image without realising A I could do a layer mask and 2. I could lighten the texture in blend more. Now that I have a few more spanners in my armoury I should be able to present a better image next time. David

Beautiful image David, I was just talking the other day about this plant. We moved house 1 week before lockdown, but my previous house is still for sale. God knows when we will sell it now though

Love this, David bright and warming. Do keep them coming. As for the M25, Chris Rea says it all for me in his song 😄😄

You are getting there David, layers and masks are an art in themselves, too much and it's overcooked.
