Red Kite

Last weeks fishing trip did give me a couple of images - this Red Kite was one of them!! Dumfries and Galloway was the area and Loch Ken was the venue! The bird is wild but as you will clearly see there are wing tags - this denotes a bird that is part of the re-introduction of the species to the area and as a result of the wing tags, progress of the bird can be monitored from distance. This particular bird appeared above the boat. The programme has been in place for a great number of years now and their has been huge success. Hope you enjoy!!

Beautiful lighting and taken at the moment when it is banking and plenty of that light to show off the body. Well cropped and the diagonal placement provides for a strong and interesting composition. This is just a quality shot, with detail in every feather.
