I thought I'd share one of the best squirrels with you from Scotland. I've really struggled to think of a title for this one - so I just gave up and called it Red Squirrel.
Thank you very much to Cheryl for teaching me how to do these - after all you are the expert
By the way, this shot is Handheld

This was taken at the Glenmore forest park, a great place to photograph red squirrels and see them (and feed them) up close. It's just behind the cafe.
I've just come back from a two week trip to Majorca. I won't go into all the thorough details, but I really really recommend the location. I always thought of Majorca as a package holiday destination, with crammed beaches full of sunbathers and british fish and chip shops and ugly blocks of hotels. Unless you go to Magaluf/Palmanova, you just don't get this.
If you ever go - take a trip to Pollenca, one of the most beautiful little towns. In fact - all the towns in the north of the Island are so picturesque. Towns like Soller, and Fornalutx are amazing. However, what really took my breath away was the scenery. If you head away from the beaches, the mountains in the distance are just incredible. The 'Sierra de Tramuntana', is home to the highest mountain in the Balearics. Driving anywhere through this range (best drive is from Pollenca to Soller), the hairpin bends and the sweeping straights of the roads really give an AMAZING view! The various photo points along the way are great too. Best of all though - if you go at 7am (like I did) and catch sunrise, the mountains are deserted. All you can hear and see are the screeches of the black vultures and ringing bells of the goats, and the dominating mountains looming over you, with not one Thomsons tour bus in sight.
For birders, there is the Albufera marshes, one of the best wetland sites in Europe. Sadly, it only opens at 9am, but we were allowed in early (for some reason) and we saw an osprey, marsh harriers and much more. It's worth a visit for those interested.
I'm not trying to sell Majorca to you, but just don't overlook it as a holiday destination. I truly think the Island has everything one needs, the beaches and hotels around Palma, (the capital), and the mountains and marshes of the North.
Anyhow, hope everyone's summer's going well
