I've done a mod to show what you can try from your original file-out-of-camera. The result I got is not so good; working with the small upload file. If you have Photoshop you should be able to do much better.
You got a nice shot here, even if a bit of a long distance one, and I think your original file should tolerate a similar crop to mine. The shadow on the neck is one of those unfortunate things you either live with or remedy with a bit of cloning. Use 15% opacity sourced from the bird's grey flank area. I wouldn't worry about the shadow on the bird's darker parts. Increase contrast a bit at this stage. If you can follow what I've done in your soft-ware, then resize for epz size, and then (and only when you've got your size) sharpen the image.
Hope this helps a bit, and keep getting more captures like this. It's basically a good shot!

Unless you want to print it and it becomes too small to print, I don't see why you can't crop it? Or is this a wildlife thing? I can see cloning could be 'cheating'. I think going a bit tighter on the bird it good, especially if you can get rid of the dark bit of branch. Not keen on fancy frames, myself, but other like them.
