Yesterday we made the most of a break in the weather and went to Belvide Reservoir in Staffordshire. We were members of West Midlands Bird Club until about 15 years ago and have just rejoined. Belvide Reservoir and the surrounding nature reserve is one of the locations that the membership allows you access to. A lot of changes have happened, the walkways are much improved, there are more hides now, better security, and there are even decent toilets - and yet it is so wonderfully familiar after spending so much time there in the past - well worth the membership fees
There wasn't a lot going on yesterday, but it was enjoyable being there again, and we saw quite a few Tree Sparrows, a couple of LTT's, lots of Bluetits, a very evasive Nuthatch, a Coal Tit, a noisy Wren, a beautifully colourful Robin, the usual gulls, ducks, geese etc, including a couple of Shovellers dabbling about in the shallows.
Here is the only Reed Bunting I saw on the day, he showed right after we arrived never to be seen again.
