I took this shot out one day just after the rain. I saw this reflection and took the shot thinking nothing of it.

I took it into post, applied classic chrome filter a d spun it around 180 degrees.

Not sure if it works. It's different but is it enough?

I love this effect, I have a set of flipped reflections of my own to upload some time... Thing is, we expect to see reflections upside down. So seeing the image the right way up jolts the brain, makes us look more carefully. Plus you have leaves floating in the 'sky'.

It would be nice to see a bit more of the figure. Did you take any other shots with him appearing more prominently?

We are not seeing the full Exif, can you add camera settings as a note please? I would like greater depth of field here.

It looks as though you focused on those paving stones which appear at the bottom of the frame here, they will have been at the top of the original frame, so I guess you did have vertical flipping in mind at the time. But vertical flipping plays havoc with normal hyperfocal distance considerations. I have found that it works best to focus around the middle of the frame, or slightly higher, that will give a reasonable balance between eventual foreground and sky.

This works very well.

I tried a tighter crop in the mod to see if it made it better or worse. The jury is out.

After flipping vertically why not horizontally as well, it makes the writing the 'right' way and confuses the eye and brain more. This makes the viewer study it more closely to try and work it out visually.
Mod flipped horizontally.

I think this is brilliant because it's a perfectly natural shot just flipped to give a lot of impact.
It's surreal because we don't expect to see leaves in the sky.
Yes, it works.

"Is it enough?". Yes, but a figure walking down the street would be a real bonusSmile.
Ivor's modification works extremely well.

Yes it's enough.
It worls very well. I think sometimes there is a tendency to want to do 'more', thinking what we could have done at the taking stage and anything 'famcy' in post production. You've found a good viewpoint and captured it well, keeping things simple is often a good approach.

The mods just show different people's take on it.

My thought is that it's slightly disturbing to see the more distant pavement sharp, rather than hte nearer part, even flipped...

The sharpness draws my eyes down: focus on the leaves in the puddle woluld have pulled them back to the middle, where the subject is.

Alternatively, a tighter crop, of course.
