Bleak, contemporary and lugubrious.
That was the right key played dudler.
A serenata dedeicated to melancholy and despair in picture.

The worm's eye view.
I'm feeling in that sort of mood too.

I feel for the gravediggers there - some of the grave must go horizontally into that hillside - more like a tunnel than a hole.

Lead for me john.

I like it - but I would like it better if the out of focus tree top left had been cloned out. The sharp and central headstone doesn't need that tree.

Mono for me. A dark image for dark days.

To keep boredom and despair at bay I spent hours playing pinball but then they pulled Adobe Flash and it doesn't work any more. Perhaps just as well. I can always paint - well I can try, but the last two went in the bin.

I like the cold steely grey sky in the colour version, but the mono has a more eerie feel, so both work for me in their different ways, and I don't mind the looming tree.

Mono for me, the photo does give out a sense of melancholy.
Well done for that.

I'll defend the tree - I think the frame would look empty without it: and moodwise, it matters that there's something dark and unformed hovering in sight, literally overshadowing things. If I'd wanted the picture without, I could have moved a little, or cropped, I think - that's a lot of area to clone out...

But do feel free to try a mod if you want to.

Phil - one of the reasons I took up photography was that I couldn't draw...

I shall just add - I see where Howard is coming from but the tree is important to the mood for me. It gives balance, and it creates a relationship, the tallest cross is leaning in towards it.
I had given out my four UAs for the day before 9am and they are all for ominous, foreboding images. It's that sort of a day.

Sadly reminiscent of current times John.
Now go to the mirror and smile - tell yourself how fortunate you are - good times are coming.

Taking a sombre shot would be a good start, it's the getting out to look for one that's the stumbling block at the moment Sad
On a more positive note I bought some Seville oranges yesteday Smile

Boredom isn't a problem....got lots of jobs that need doing. There are plenty of things we can all do to
help pass the time, It's motivation that's the problem., The continuous dreary news and the cold wet weather's
starting to get to us all. Got a bunch of stuff planned for when the lockdowns lifted. Just impatient to get on with it...

The little weed bottom right says Y. My first thought on looking at this. You went there when you're already sad...hmmm. You want to get all the sadness out quick. My favourite is the lead. It's sadder looking.

Holidays? Now that is a word I have not heard for a long time. However, a holiday from lockdown is a better use for this word. My wife and I (lucky that we are still two of us, as it must be terrible to be alone in the present situation) we try to think of what we are going to do the next day. Be it just a walk or a visit to a shop.
However, we now have some light in the distance, as I got my vaccination on Saturday and my wife gets hers on Friday!

Splendid but Oh so gloomy image
I cheer myself up by working in the garden. It has to be really hard work to stimulate the endorphins so today I took the chain saw to the overgrown copse at the bottom of the garden and cut down and then cut up three trees that were spoiling the view. Now quite exhausted, but content. Tomorrow, weather permitting, all the small branches go through the chipper to make mulch for the veggie patch.

Perhaps a walk by your local canal would give you more cheerful thoughts than a cemetery.
And enjoy your garden birds, just as much fun as non feathered ones!
